A Glimpse of Spring: Eating in Season
Monday, March 28th, 2011Green up with frozen or canned winter veg
Wednesday, December 15th, 2010From 5210 Let’s Go, a health promotion project in Portland, Maine, comes this great suggestion on how to keep getting your veggies during winter when most aren’t in season for us here in the Northern Hemisphere:
Frozen and canned vegetables are just as good for you as fresh!

- Their nutrients are preserved in the canning and freezing process.
- Pick canned vegetables that are salt free and
season to taste. - They are available all year long!
- They cost less than fresh, are always in season, are easily stored and are ready to use in cooking.
- Frozen and canned are great ways to add more fruits and vegetables to your diet, and remember fresh can be found in the winter too!
